2009 FALL PATTERNS
Fresh Vintage #14

When assembling the sections (H) as shown above, don’t forget to assemble (32) with the b triangles as shown above (right to left) and (32) with the b triangles added in the opposite order (left to right) to mimic the diagrams as shown in the pattern. You will need one of each “direction” for each block. All the diagrams in the pattern show this already but it is not spelled out in the directions that you need to piece the H sections from 2 sides so we thought we would make it clear here in the updates section.
Jelly & Jam
The main block in this quilt is listed in the pattern as finishing at 7 3/4”. Instead the block will finish at 7 1/4”. Given the sewing together of triangles, bias, etc., the pattern notes on several occasions to cut the sashings and the borders to your own measurements and not to the finished sizes provided within the pages of the pattern.
Even so, we thought we would provide the sashings and borders as they should be if your blocks are indeed finishing at a perfect 7 1/4”.
Finished size: 64 3/4” x 73 3/4”
Cut all sashings 7 3/4” instead. All cutting instructions stay the same.
Cut (2) 2 ¼” x 61 3/4” left/right sides & (2) 2 1/4” x 56 1/4” top/bottom
Cut (8) 5” strips. Piece for length & cut (2) 5” x 65 1/4” left/right sides;
(2) 5” x 65 1/4” top/bottom.
Christmas Jellies
Finished size: 67 3/4” x 67 3/4”
Cut all sashings 7 3/4” instead. All cutting instructions stay the same.
Cut (6) 2 ¼” green dot border strips. Piece for length & cut into (2) 2 ¼ x 56 ¼” and (2) 2 ¼ x 59 ¾” inner border pieces.
Cut (7) 4 ½” small cream floral border strips. Piece for length & cut into (2) 4 ½” x 59 ¾” & (2) 4 ½” x 67 ¾” outer border strips.
Jelly Breakfast
Finished size: 74 3/4” x 74 3/4”

PURSELETS PATTERN
The first printing of patterns is missing this instruction...
Handle
Press the handle fabric strip in 1/2 length wise, right sides out. Open & press
each side into the center fold, basically making double fold binding. Close again & topstitch the entire folded strip
1/8” away from folded edges. Don’t worry about the ends as they will be tucked into the bag.

Cherry Turnovers Quilt p.16
The sashing strips should be cut at 3 different lengths to accommodate the various sides of the blocks. Instead of (64) 1 1/2" x 9 1/2" sashings, you will need (36) 9 1/2 ", (24) 10 1/2", (4) 11 1/2" lengths.
OR if you have already cut the sashings..... you can either add cream posts to all of those outside blocks and still use the same 9 1/2" sashings you cut, or color posts to match the rest of the quilt.
Either solution works and looks just fine on the finished quilt and it keeps you from having to recut any fabric. The rest of the instructions would not differ.
Paris Traveler’s Bag
The cut size for the main fabric gusset and gusset lining are a bit too long. They should be cut 40” long instead of 42". If you haven’t pieced your bag , then simply trim it to 40".
If you have already pieced the gusset in and have discovered that it is too long then find the middle of the gusset [which will be right in the middle of the bottom of your bag so it is a fine place to make an alteration], pin it closed right sides together & in, measure 1" over from the fold , make a few marks and sew a seam on that line. Trim the leftover loop of fabric to a 1/4" seam allowance. This will shorten the overall size by 2" total.
If this doesn’t make sense to you, then simply trim off 1 1/2" from the middle of the length of your gusset pieces and sew them back together in the same place where you trimmed off the excess fabric.
Continue assembly. You need 1 1/2 yds. lining fabric

Under CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS, you will need to cut (2) strips of each color and make (2) strip sets for the (36) patches needed to make the diamonds. Instead of 1.
Under SPECIAL DIAMOND CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS Step 3: It should read “Begin cutting 1 1/2" patches with the 1 1/2" line. Daisy Chain Once the strips are pieced into the 5 strip units the sections should be cut 2"

Figgy Pudding
The cornerposts are supposed to be 2 1/2" cut [directions call for 2" cut in error]. You will need a total of 40.
If cutting from 1/4 yds. change the directions as follows:
Cut (40) 2 1/2" post squares from your fabric leftovers.
Choose a good variety of fabrics & cut several from each.
If you are cutting from Layer Cakes & Charm Packs, change the directions as follows: From the (20) "circle" layer cakes, cut the final square (1) 2 1/2” [instead of the 2" as written in the pattern]. This will yield 20 posts. “circles”, cut (4) 2 1/2" squares [instead of the (1) 2" square as written in the pattern]. This will yield 20 posts. This will give you an overall total of the 40 posts you will need.
Plain & Simple
Simple Sawtooth Quilt
Piece (2) rows of 32 green triangle squares each as shown below. Press toward the dark triangle each time. Repeat for (2) rows of peach squares.
Patchwork Strips Quilt
From eachof the (4) medium and (4) light ¼ yd. fabrics:
Cut (1) 7 1/4" strip. Cut it into (5) 7 1/4" squares. Cut the squares twice on the diagonal…
*** QUICK FIX DIRECTIONS: If you have already made your hourglass blocks you can either cut them down to 6 1/2" unfinished and continue with the directions of the quilt or if you have already pieced the rows, you can remove one hourglass block from each row, trim your sashings and side borders to 59" instead and either add fabric to your top & bottom borders to measure 59 1/2" or recut those 2 borders.

Due to printer error, the directions for the Allspice Pines quilt has little boxes instead of some of the measurements. Please see here for the correct page. Click Here.

Jelly Roll Diamonds
BETTER MEASUREMENT: For the corner triangles measurement-
The current measurement is okay, but it is easier if you cut 13" x 9" rectangles instead.
HINT/EXPLANATION: When cutting the green sashing strips, the 10" measurement given in the pattern assumes that you are measuring straight across the strip, from angled cut to angled cut. So you would lay your strip straight in front of you, cut your left hand side 60" angle, measure over 10" and cut another 60" angled cut.
If however you are measuring on an angle with the body of a wide Omnigrid ruler, in the same manner you cut the diamonds, then the measurement you cut is only 8 1/2". The length of that cut from tip to tip, then ends up the 10" [which is the same measurement as your diamond blocks should be] to which I refer in the directions.
Which one you will better understand really depends on how you visualize things and how you think about cutting. I have found that I have as many customers to whom it makes sense one way as the other.
On page 4 of the pattern near the bottom, it says the words "basket block" oops... there is no basket, that should just read "block"."

Boughs of Pomegranates
For the supply list, you will need 1/4 for the pomegranate centers instead of 1/8 yard.
Page 2. When adding corner G squares to the background x and z sections, only add G squares on two corners in order to complete the block “X” pattern in the middle of the quilt. Please disregard the diagram on the Z square that shows all 4 corners having G squares. That is not accurate. This is what the diagram should look like instead:

Goosetracks in the Pumpkins
The correction concerns the cutting and amount of the Sawtooth Border as well as the size of the following Inner Border.
#1 Instead of needing 10 flying geese blocks on each side, you will actually need 11 flying geese blocks, as is pictured on the front of the cover photo.
When cutting taupe background pieces [k], you will need a total of (44) instead of just (40) pieces. To do this you will need to cut (1) more 3" strip.
You will also need (92) total cream squares [f] instead of (84).
#2 The Inner Border should be cut at 3" instead of the written 2 1/2". This is so that the flying geese borders fit perfectly around the quilt. Quilted Lace
Under CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS, the 5th Bullet under "From the cream lace fabric cut the following" has several errors in it. Instead it should read: "Cut (4) 1 2/4" strips. Cut into (2) 1 3/4" x 22" pieces [M] and (2) 1 3/4" x 24 1/2" pieces [N].
Circle of Stars
On the first line of the first page the directions should read the following:
From the Cream Fabric: For the sawtooth stars: Star Centers: Cut (2) 7 1/2" strips. From each strip cut (5) 7 1/2" squares [X]. Need (9) total.

Sorry for any confusion: there are no pillows as a part of this pattern. The subtitle on the cover sheet is an error.
Buttercream Diamonds
Your instructions say to cut (20) 2 1/2" wide patterns strips and that you should yield 15 from each strip set. The measurements are fine, however the amounts given will not give you enough diamonds to complete the quilt.
Cut (26) of the 2 1/2" patterned strips. You will need (14) for the center diamond panel and (12) for the border… You should be able to cut 14 sections from each strip set.
